![]() | [dir=ltr]From Segregation to Inauguration The world held its breath waiting for this news. For some it seemed impossible for a black person to ever become president in the Unites States. For others, they held tight with the small hope they had that he would bring change and would improve the country or even the world politically, economically and socially. I had my own interpretations, my own thoughts about this subject. In what seems like yesterday, blacks were not permitted in restaurants, weren’t allowed to ride public buses. Schools were segregated, black children sat in different rooms apart from white children. Not 40 years ago, America was that country, in where every part of its land racism was practiced. In every street corner, racism was seen. In every town, someone suffered from racism. In every field, someone tasted the bitterness of racism. Today, though, a black man has reached very far and took his steps toward becoming a president. I’m not feeling the joy and pride, black Americans are feeling. Because I knew that racism was nothing, and it is based on false statements. But what I have learned from this incident makes me feel the joy. I have learned that nothing is impossible. Nothing, whatsoever, is impossible. Everything can be done, and everything can be achieved. Seeing that Obama has reached the state of inauguration makes me full of hope that everything could possibly happen. I have no hope, not even the least bit that Obama will improve or will bring peace. There is no difference between him and the ones before, except skin color. They all drink from the same fountain, have the same goals, and are willing to achieve and make their wishes come true. I have a goal to strive for, and I will make it happen. I can achieve it, and I will. (just a personal reflection on current news) [/dir] |
