The sound /g/ does not include all sounds that the letter g makes in English. The letter g in English can produce the sound /g/ and the sound //. The /g/ sound is the sound made at the beginning of the word get.

The sound /g/ is pronounced like the first sound in "get". The letters "ge" in the word "garage" are what we call the //.
